Jim Reay Novels & Short Stories

Underlying themes for my early stories

I have a basic philosophical objection to putting people in ‘boxes’, particularly about matters over which they have no control.

None of us had a choice about when, where and to whom we were born. So gender, race or early childhood upbringing should not be used to put anyone up or down in the perceptions of society – stereotyping, if you like.

Some people have more opportunity than others in their range of choices in life. But, when individuals can make choices based on reasoning, their behaviour is a much more valid measure of the sort of character they really have.

Catching Legends and The Chess Board are intended to challenge the way we think.

Thanks and Publishing plans

I would like to thank the Queensland Writers’ Centre for their encouragement in my early days of writing. Their workshops, master classes and sessions about the industry were a great support initially; and continue to be for me.

Thanks to Rams Skull Press of Esk. https://ramsskullpress.com/blog .They are a small publishing and printing business in the Brisbane Valley. They have helped me, along with other Australian writers, to get a start; to get their stories out there.

I plan to have two more novels available in 2016. (More to follow. Watch this space.)
